Guys, I've been itching to get Solaris 8 running on my box cuz I'm in the middle of trying to learn Solaris, and now that I'm laid off and don't have access to a box at work it's a bit tough for the hands-on stuff now heh... but anyway I can't get the install to go... as soon as it starts the Interactive install, the PC resets!
I have used these install CD's on other systems and have had no problems, and Solaris 7 has no troubles with this system either.
Any ideas of things I could try to rig this thing into working?

Are you getting any error messages right before the reboots?

Doesn't seem to... in fact it almost appears as if it happens while it's actually in the process of loading the kernel....

I had trouble with a Solaris 8 install last week. ONe thing I seriously suggest you do is boot off Disc One of the Solaris Software Disc instead of the install disk or the boot configuration floppy. I read that there are several issues with both of the aforementioned disks. As soon as I tried booting and installing from Disc One of the Solaris Software I had no problems and it installed like a champ. Also, you might want to double-check your hardware compatibility as Solaris is definately not as flexible as Linux in terms of hardware support. Good luck!!
