Galeon (uses Mozilla as the rendering engine.) Very fast and stable.

I like Opera even though it's really crash prone. But I think it supports even less than Konqueror does in the realm of plugins. It does what I need and recovers gracefully from crashing, so I stick with it :)

Mozilla Mozilla Mozilla Mozilla good God Mozilla. Or maybe Galeon or Konqueror. Mozilla.

Strike is right. Opera is really amaizing. Very small and efficient (fast). I use a combination of Netscape and Opera. The sites I can't visint with Opera I visit with Netscape (happens very rarely though).

Opera does have a good... eeemm... let's call it a 'recovery thingy' so that if it crashes you start where you stopped (I hope that made sense)

I only had that problem with a beta release. The new stable one works fine for me. Crashes every once in a while but not much. *shrug*

Opera. I keep it open 24/7 (with about 10 window thingies) and it hasn't crashed in a couple weeks. And the whole more than one browser in one window thiner is really cool.

Opera has only crashed on me twice since I've had it (for a few months now) and I keep it open 24/7 (for example it's been open for 21 days (which is my uptime) with 15 windows open inside of it and I haven't had a problem). You'll eventually learn which sites you shouldn't even try to load into Opera -- for those I use Mozilla. And yes it does manage to save your windows -- pre-crash -- very nicely.

There's a stable release of Opera downloadable, and since I installed it, it hasn't crashed at all. It's also very configurable and has a good download section. It should be compatible with Netscape plugins ( according to opera.com ) but as a matter of principle, I feel all sites should cater for non-plugin enabled browsers, it's not technically difficult, after all.

I haven't had Opera crash on me yet. It's great for browsing, but unfortunately no plugins available for it yet (although plugin support already exists). Netscape has the most plugins, but in my opinion is unstable. Crashes too much. I only use it when I need to see something that requires a plugin.

Internet Explorer (yes, it renders pages much more accurately than Opera, don't hate it just because it's MS)

But if it must be linux then Opera is pretty nice...Nutscrape sucks

My favorites:

Lynx from the CLI.

Galeon from the GUI.

ie is the best. I hate all of the webbrowers for linux. It is shameful that someone cannot create a good webbrowser. Of all the software that is needed this is the most important one and we have our choice of nutscape 0pera galeon or kong. Utter bull**** that nothing better is available/

I actually prefer Opera over IE. *shrug* To each his own I guess.

What else do you want with a web browser? Mozilla handles all the code that IE5 handles, and is reasonably speedy, and certainly crashes less often in Linux than IE5 in Windows (although Mozilla in Windows is unstable IME).

I use opera in both linux and windows. If I need to view something with a plugin, I use netscape 4.78. I have never really had any trouble with opera. Much more stable than IE, in my experience. And I do love the crash recovery.

I just want to know when the linux version will support the feature from the windows version of opera that allows you to go back by just holding the right button on the mouse down and moving the mouse left. I love that feature.

Plus, opera is the only one that really lets me use whatever email program I want. I use pine, but netscape and konqueror don't let me use it for email in them. I have to use their emailers (which are a bit slower than rxvt -e pine %).

You really only have three choices and they are;
Opera, followed by Opera, and finally Opera. :D

I use Opera in both windows and Linux, If you get rid of IE. in windows and just use opera, it is the fastest browser yet, and its very stable. I used a small program called IEradicator to flush I.E. from my win98SE. Not only does opera work like a dream, but Windows boots Lightning fast.
Cheers

Lets go people, if you think that ie sucks you are smoking some heavy ****. I am a 100% linux at work and 75% unix at home. I have one win98 machine for Counter-strike and age of empires, two things that I cant do on linux. In the last 6 monts I have not had more than a handfull of IE problems. In the last 6 days netscape has crashed 7 times. Websurfing on windows is superior to linux and it shouldn't be. Linux deserves a better web browser than the ones we have now. Granted mozilla and opera are good. Opera has the best stablitly of the group(i think). But compared to IE the suck real bad. And trust me this pains me to admit it.

I would have to agree
IE is very good but
Linux deserves more.

Stop whining and make a btter one then! And it's not the most important software; the most important software is vim.

IE is the best, unfortuantely it works only for windows. For me it crashes only once a month, eventhough i use it a lot. Netscape6 is the best for plugins on linux. Opera is the fastest but there is too much stuff being displayed. Konqueror doesnt work well wiht plugins it would beat out netscape if it did. Cant say ne thing about galeon, but figuring its based on mozilla, its probably poor-moderate. This is what i have found from experience after following everyones advice. Thanks
