I am trying to install Slackware onto an old AST Advantage 6066d with a integrated video card and a NEC CD Rom.
All I want to do is use Xwin on a linux box and run Staroffice 5.2.
I've spent about 30 hours getting nowhere (have learned a lot). Can someone tell me if it is a least possible and give me a link to where I can get the CD Rom driver and finally succeed. Thanks for any help, or at least a kind word.

All I can give is a kind word...
You are very pretty Eric. Don't be afraid to yell it out. You are very pretty.
1) What exactly is your problem? Is it just accessing your CD, I'd suggest you copy CD to hard disk.
2) Installing on an old computer to run StarOffice?
Nothing I would do, I have tried StarOffice on Pentium 150, 128 MB, it's far too slow! StarOffice requires a lot, I suggest you use some other office suite.
That's what I can give you for now, the kind words you've been given already... ;)

You're not going to be able to run Star Office that's for sure. MS Office runs faster than it. Try AbiWord instead. As for your CDROM problem, try typing "cdrom=/dev/hdc" during the boot prompt.
