After my giving up on Plan 9 (for now) I tried to istall openBSD. I got stumped on their version of fdisk. I could not seem to assign an openBSD (A6) partition that was the size I wanted. It seemed to give me a range of 63 to 6145334 as one of my linux partitions started on 6145335 but any time I enteresd either of those numbers or anything near them it would not take (I forget the exact phrase used). Any place you can pooint me to to help on this or a simple answer from anyof you would be apreciated.

What I did was install based on the percentage of the drive. Let's say that you have a 10GB hard drive marked as 10633100. You want your root partition to be 3GB. The way I did it, I came out with about 3300000 for the fdisk. That was about right. Then let's say I wanted 2GB for /usr/src/; I then came out with 2400000. And so on.
I'd suggest making root, swap, then the others. That way, you can finish up nice and clean.
That's for determining size.
Now, as for the range, if memory serves, all you have to do is designate sizes within that range. If the exact number doesn't work, try 64 to 6145333.

If this doesn't help, let me know, and I'll see what I can do. I installed it on a seperate hard drive, so I might not be the best person to answer this question, but hey, couldn't hurt right?

After hanging out on #openbsd for some help with my laptop, I learned that you can specify the size of your partitions in megabytes. That's right! Just specify the size and append an 'm' to it (400m, for example) and it will acquiesce to your command.

Good luck...

Damn! I wish I knew that when I was installing it for the first time! It took me about 3 tries of experimenting to get it all down! Thanks man!
