I heard alot of you guys wanting Sun machines so you can run a "real" Unix.

Over at http://www.sun.com/auctions/ you can get them cheap. I saw this on an ad at my college, and I checked the site and found Ultra 5's going for $1700.

If you got some money burning a hole in your pocket, and want a work station, check it out.

Have Fun!

that is high for a Ultra 5, I might pay that for a ultra 10. I would love to have the new
sun blade system. Badass but over priced!

It's not bad, considering Sun wants $1500+ for the same box!

I don't think you'd be able to get an Ultra 10 for $1000. Prove me wrong on this.

I picked up a couple sparc 1+'s and a classic for free from someone localy. Well not entirely free. I have to write a quick How-To on getting the hardware hooked up and getting linux installed on it. So far getting the classic working was easy enough. Its not fast or anything but its something neat to have in the living room so people can check thier web mail.

Check out http://www.mce.com - they sell used Sun and SGI boxes. I get a lot of my SGI stuff from them.
