It's a pain. It only supports s3 and Mach 64 chipsets and very few monitors. I have an ATI Expert@play 98 card and it is giving bad resolution even with that. I have not yet been able to read the install screen. I'm trying a number of different bootdisks and if I can pull it off I'll post it here.

Let us know how it goes, I thought of installing Plan9, but it doesn't support enough hardware.

Keep us informed of your progress.

I downloaded and tried about every boot-disk Image I could think of. What you do is this:
go to the plan 9 website and configure a bootdisk with your machine's approximate specs. the default is generic multisynce 75khz monitor 800x600 8bits o'color. My best screen came with a disk that had 1026x768 65khz at 16 bits, but it still sucked. I have an amd 350 k6-2 with an expert@play 98 8mb vidiocard and an old CTX monitor. They do have specific monitors at theri website and Its seems that NEC and Viewsonic would get better luck. They also only really have the vidio working with cards that have the Mach 64 chipset or the s3 chipsets. I will continue this project this Sunday, when I will change to an old 800x600 viewsonic 4E I have lying around and I may even change my video card to a 4mb s3 chipset or a 2mb s3 pci card, just to see what I need.

Well, thats my experiment for now. I hope my failue will inspire others because it is still alot of fun to stay up till 2am when you habve to wake up at 6am doing this kind of stuff.
