OK, here's the deal. A teacher at my college wants to see how good Linux is. So he asked me to bring him Linux (he did not specify a distro, so I'll bring Debian http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif) Now he wants to compare it to a commercial Unix. Which one should I tell him to take?

"Hi could you print my report please? My printer is broken here."
"What was your username again?"
# cd ~user
# grep 'gay' mbox > /etc/motd
# cat /dev/null > phd_final_report
# userdel user

Solaris7 or 8. That is the only easily obtained commercial Unix in my opinion. There are others but they aren't as easy to find sometimes.

Did I do that?

Get SCO UnixWare 7.1, it's only $30 for a licensed copy. Solaris would be my second choice.

I take it you want something that will make Linux look good - choose SCO (or even better, XENIX if you can get it http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif , nah, that would be cheating)
