I have a SB Live! and noticed that the driver can be compiled for *BSD, but how do I go about doing this? I'm still pretty new to the ways *BSD. Thanks alot!

depending on what flavour you are running.
under fbsd, i would

cd /usr/src/sys/i386/conf && cp GENERIC MYKERNEL
edit MYKERNEL to your liking. instructions can be found in the handbook.
add, device pcm, to your kernel config.
type:
/usr/sbin/config MYKERNEL
cd ../../compile/MYKERNEL && make depend && make && make install

you will probably want to buildworld {instructions are in the handbook}
because if you have updated your sources you will have problems between your system binaries and the kernel.

once you have that completed
cd /dev && sh MAKEDEV snd0 and change the perms on dsp0 audio0 mixer0 sequencer0 to what you need.
