I have just launched a freebsd help site using Ultimate BBO and PHP nuke and would like you all to help get it off the ground.. I am finishing up with all the help files but the site is specific to FreeBSD and I promise to monitor it hourly at first to help out... <a href=http://potomacanglers.com/freebsd>check it out here</a>

Hey Diesel,
nice site! Kinda funny, I was just trying to compile a list of BSD sites that not many people know about. Have several links now and will add yours to the list!

Just wanted to let you know that the site is looking very good and the bulletin board is starting to get some traffic.
Please come by and visit if you get a chance!
BSDvault (http://potomacanglers.com/freebsd) (soon to be bsdvault.net)
<edit>Actually, it is temporarily down, because dotster is forwarding the old URL to the new URL. I have already notified Diesel concerning this, so please be patient as he gets it resolved.</edit>
New URL:

It's kinda weak having to sign up with an account for the PHP stuff on the front page and then one for the UBB forum... just a thought.

Strike: We know...
we are tossing the free UBB and will be using the full version of vBulletin (http://vbulletin.com) by the end of the month. Perhaps there is a way to port PHP-Nuke users over to the BB in this manner, or vice versa. I'll have to see what Diesel thinks.
Myself, it doesn't bother me any, I have so many sites where I have to login, what's one more? In any case, it's something we'll look into.
Sensei, would you be so kind as to post the news that I submitted to you awhile back regarding our site? We have linked to you on our front page and in our 'Web Links' area.
Seems only fair that you could at least give us a spot on your site for a few days (news article) or even a permanent link, or doesn't internet.com allow that?
We'd like to have a symbiotic relationship with LNO and not a negative one. I myself have learned so much from this site, the people and the info that everyone provides.
So, thanks to Sensei and all those that have assisted me in one way or another.
BSDvault (http://bsdvault.net) has only been up for two weeks and we have quite a bit of content; it's evolving rapidly.
We know some people aren't interested in BSD; just come by when you are.
Regards,
SF

Guys (dieselboy and SolarFlux), I don't know if Sensei has the say-so to start linking to other sites or not (on a permanent basis). It might be up to the internet.com PR people.

Why not hack the PHP-nuke code a bit?
An idea I've been playing with:
Try creating a 'user-session' class. Each time a user logs on to the front page, a new class instance would be created.
The class would be real simple: having a few fields like "name", "accessType", "lastLogin", "authenticated (boolean)" etc.
That way, any later PHP code that needs some kind of authentication, can get that info from that class object.
if($userObject.authenticated) {
echo "Hello " . $userObject.name . "!";
}
This could even be worked into a cookie - that would decouple your code a bit.
you get the basic idea...
