Hey All-

I'm thinking about studying for the Solaris 7 Cert. exams. Has anyone here been through this? What are your opinions of certification? Just want some insight as to how long on average it takes to study for the two exams and the value of being certified before I dive in.

If you buy the macmillan study guide, make sure you have a windows machine handy, since the practice test software on the bundled cd is Winders only. Of course this is absolutely ridiculous (it's a book on solaris, the cd should contain software for solaris) but it's the truth...

If you can get them, the java tutors a really nice, too. But what really helped me was grabbing to x86 boxes and throwing 7 on them and getting NIS, NFS and even jumpstart going. Even though I have seen and used them before, it is different setting it all up from scratch then maintaining and supporting them.
