On a whim, I decided to download and install KDE-2.0 and related packages from the ports collection on ftp.freebsd.org. Using pkg_add -n I determined which dependencies I was lacking. I than proceeded to install over my existing distribution.
The menu had duplicate entries. I bet this is a holdover from my old KDE. How do I fix this or where is the config file.
The menueditor doesn't work quite right and some programs don't work.
ie some that I like Xchat, IglooFTP, and abiword. they return the following error message:
bash-2.03# IglooFTP
/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libxpg4.so.3" not found
bash-2.03# abiword
/usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libxpg4.so.3" not found
How do I correct.
Color is bizar. The desktop icons and menubar showed up in glorious color. However this happens only once in a while. Usually it's in black and white. If I load another wm than it returns one time to color. Than it's back to black and white. I use Xfree86 4.01. The configuration doesn't show color depth but my background looks great. Xboard and netscape have problems with "color map". Believe it or not I really really want this to work.
