Eccentric,
tick...tock...tick...tock...License expires.
KATCHING!!! 300$
Whoa, man that's steep...

Here's an alternative:
By virtue of freemware being an open source project right from day one, freemware can also be an extremely useful tool for operating systems development, debugging, instrumentation and profiling. Many compile and run time options can be added, such that more control of the software being run inside the freemware environment can be offered to an OS developer, for instance. This will provide much more flexibility and control than is offered in a commercial product where you do not have access to the source code, such as VMware

Hmmmm...an open source, GPL clone of VMWare, no money down! That's more like it dontcha think?

PS. Btw, I've read there's a new release of VMware due out April 22nd that's supposed to be richer. er...no, not more expensive http://www.linuxplanet.com/discussion/wink.gif

I was going to give it a run this weekend, but I ran into a huge problem on a friends Aptiva, trying to install Redhat 5.2. I'll probably try it out sometime this week. I'm not really worried about the price, I can find a way to get it for free. http://www.linuxplanet.com/discussion/smile.gif

I'd pay $300 for it. I can run Windows in a "window" where it belongs. Then I can export my Display to any machine I want, maybe this ol' hunk o' junk laptop I got, (486) for $60.

For those that are hoping to be able to "convert" a dual boot Windows/Linux system into running linux and vmware'd windows, forget it. vmware creates a "virtual PC" and when you boot windows it starts installing new things and changing settings... argh.

Personally I don't need it, it doesn't do what I want so I'll keep on dual-booting. Either that or I'll look out for a 486 somebody's chucking out, keep windows on this comp and install dedicated linux on the 486 *drool*

P.S. Hey eccentric. moderate this! *moons eccentric* http://www.linuxplanet.com/discussion/biggrin.gif
