I just bought a G4 and would like to dual boot it with linux and OS9. Here is what i did and what happened.

1. I wiped out the hd.
2. split hd into 4 partitions /root -8G / boot 20mb swap 256mb and one HFA for OS9 11G

3. I then reinstalled OS9 on its partitions
4. It could then boot up to OS9 with no problems
5. I booted off CD to Linuxppc and installed everything. 1.5g onto it partitions

6. Install went fine, it asked for password and I setup time and network connect and all that good stuff.

7. Rebooted to mac OS - no problems
8. Installed linuxppc boot software in os9
9. computer rebooted and I got a graphical menu to choose a OS - linux or mac - the mac one works but the linux would load about 1/2 way and locks up. It give me a bunch of "lost interupter" errors after loading the DVD drive and other stuff.

10. I have played with the linux boot settings, such as the force video and ram options but some of these cause linux to not even start loading.

That is where I am now. I have read the owners manual twice but it is not really clear to me where I messed up. I have looked around the linuxppc.com website but the help on there is limited. Now on the website is does mention the "lost interupter" I am getting sometimes during boot but the website doesn't help much in fixing the problem. I tried there suggestion with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

do you mean the /hda9 or what ever. Am I supposed to point it to the root or boot partition?
