I have done everything that the documentation on my linux ppc q4 told me to do. i.e. made the four partitions, selected the packages and installed them. However, now when i turn the machine on all i get is a flashing '?' and nothing happens. By the way I had to get rid of the mac partition because there was no way the included fwb toolkit could resize my existing partition. so, all i have on my hard disk is the linux stuff.

help!!!

i have an imac rev a with 160 mb ram and 6 gb hard disk.

thanks

Well, you're problem is that you took the MacOS off entirely. You must have at least a small booting Mac partition to run Linux PPC (unlike on an Intel machine). It's a question of getting the startup talking to the hardware.
basically, you're going to have to put MacOS back on the machine.

Boot from your Mac CD. Reinstall the basic OS (9.x?), then use FWB to partition a small (200MB or so HFS or HFS+ should do it), Re-install the Mac OS in there, then go ahead with the Linux install. Most of the info you need is in the manual at this point.

Once you're up & running, all your computer needs on the Mac side is a basic system folder that can boot you to the "Choose your OS" screen during startup. Click Linux & it will shut down MacOS & fire up Linux. Good luck with it!

or he could have made an extra 10 MB partition to use Yaboot with if he only wants linux. I'd recommend you just redo the entire process, since you have no configuration done yet, so no real loss. you only really need 3 partitions, so you don't run out of space on one when you need it, unless you plan on having loads of users... they might take up all the space available then.
i'd make it: 10 MB mac partition, 50 MB Swap, and 5.94 GB A/UX free.
