I have the whole dual operating system thing running now. Mac Os 9 and Linux PPC.
I would eventually like to run one of the free web servers on one of my home computers, either Apache or the TclHttp Server. I eventually will install Apache on my Linux OS but I first want to see if I can get it on my Appletalk network that includes an NT server, Win 98 and my powermac 8500 (Mac OS 9).

Has anyone ever used Netatalk? I'm trying to follow instructions from an article written by Anders Brownworth and it's difficult to follow because there are no sequential steps

help? :p

1. install netatalk (should be on the linuxppc cd if you have that, otherwise compile it)
2. create usr name and passwd in terminal (using:
adduser *name*
passwd *name*
Enter passwd: *passwd*
retype passwd: *passwd*
)
3. go to your mac, open the chooser, and click appleshare. your Linux machine should be listed. open the connection, type your *name* and *passwd* you created in step 2. this gives you access to your home dir. for that usr. to edit the home, i forgot... i did change it on my server ( NN (http://nn.moldycr.net) ) which is a linux box running netatalk. i have it as a crackable machine. if i remembered how to set home i'd tell you, but at the moment, i believe that this is enough info for you
