BASIC,BASIC Question !!!

Its my second day with linux and i really dont understand how i can install new programms and how i start them !!!!!

For example i downloaded ******x* and
*freeamp* !!!!

I really need your help

in case you hadn't figured it yet,
you must compile applications.
to learn how, use the intel compile guide. It may say Intel, though it is very similar.

All little more infomation is really necessary. Did you download a tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2 source file. Did you download a rpm or a deb. After that maybe I can help ;-)

There are several ways to do it. You can do it by command line or if it is an RPM, you might be able to install by click and hold on the icon.

Just to know it, learn the commands, they aren't that hard.

I would suggest getting "Running Linux." That's a fine book. It is the one with the horse and rider on the cover. It will cover a lot of subject of interest to the newbie.
