Ok...

I'm a newbie, but I'm figuring things out ok I think...

I'm only having trouble with getting linux to boot with yaboot on my iMac.. Honestly I don't know what goes where and why and whatnot...

I've got 3 partitions:

1 HFS Standard with 9.1 installed
1 Swap
1 Root with LinuxPPC 2K Q4 installed

So my question would be, how do I use yaboot to boot into linux, but still have the ability to boot back into macos?

There are some NHF docs that explain how to do it but in that example the MacOS is the default, and I would like Linux to be the default.

I'm sure it's simple, I just haven't found the right way yet.. ;-)

Thanks in advance.

Caio

This is my understanding using SuSE
7.0 for ppc:

You need 4 partitions:
MacOS Extended (HFS +)
Standard MacOS (HFS)
A/XU (Swap)
A/UX Root

By doing MacOS Extended in the first
partition, you will have two disks show
on your desktop. In the first or top disk,
you name it (whatever you call your disk) and put your Mac
OS there. In the second disk, you put your
bootX app into which will allow you to boot
to mac OS when you first boot and hold the "Option" key down or go directly into linux OS if you just boot the usual way. Name it "linuxBootDisk" or whatever you wish.

(Your flavor of linux must have a mac
boot folder available that you can just
drag and drop into the second bottom
disk).

Anyway, you alsoNEEDto go into your
apple menu and then to control panels
then to "StartUp" disk. You'll see your
two disks and a Network disk--three disks that you can select. Select the
LinuxBootDisk which you named linuxbootdisk or whatever name you gave it--the lower bottom disk where the bootable folder resides.

ONE THING more! I have read on one of the linux websites that 9.1 does not allow
bootX to work. You may want to look into
this. I am running 9.0.4. I personally cannot think of anyreason why 9.1 wouldn't work with bootX. The post that I read wasn't very clear.

good luck!
