I got an old mac I found and am trying to get it to work. It's powerbook 165 and thats about all I know. When I start I see a disk ICON with a question mark. Anyone know a mini dist or how to fix it?

Wonock alfredo 01-15-2001, 10:49 PM It could be several things. First I'd zap the PRAM. Hold down Command-Option P-R at boot. You should hear three chimes I believe. The PRAM battery could be dead, or your system folder is screwed up. There could be some extension conflict. Boot holding down the shift key too. See if that helps. There could be other causes. That's all I can think of. It could be trying to boot from a non existant floppy. If you get it running maybe NetBSD will work on it. If none of that works. Sit the computer on the floor. Hop around it like a bunny while singing "My Country Tis Of thee" That always worked for me. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/wink.gif James Bond 01-16-2001, 02:50 PM that sounds like it can't find it's startup disk. You might have a corrupted system folder, or, a dead hard drive. If you can, try booting it off of a floppy to make sure that the hard drive still works -JB justlinux.com
