Beep 01-27-2001, 02:17 AM I never used YDL, but what I can tell you is I started out with LinuxPPC and recently switched to SuSE 7.0. I'm much happier for it. I lack know-how to talk about deeply technical issues, but my impression is, SuSE is put together with a lot more care and effort than LinuxPPC. At least it installed in English, not Japanese! That's the sort of niggling detail that plagues LinuxPPC and while all be fixed with a bit of work, in the end it left me with the impression of rather shoddy product. SuSE just has a more solid feel to it. Another thing in SuSE's favour: when I had trouble configuring XFree SuSE's tech support replied with suggestion that actually solved my problem. I feel for those new to Linux or those who just want a system that will provide maximum functionality for minimum effort, SuSE is worth investigating. But if you're comfortable with your current setup, it might not be worth switching over just for the hell of it. It is nice being able to get to this board again. I think i am going to wait for the new YDL2 release. I went back to LinuxPPC when I changed drives, fixed the little problems and Have enjoyed it. I decided to use LPPC because it had Helix-Gnome installed. justlinux.com
