kicker constantly freezes in kde3

I have just installed kde3 on mandrake 8.2.
It starts up fine but after one or two apps are started from the panel, it freezes. The desktop is still functional but kicker is dead.
Anyone else experienced this.

Yes,
I experienced this with the original release of QT3 behind kde3 beta2....

There was a problem in building the qt-mt libraries ... not sure.why you would be experiencing this in the release .. is there anything in /var/log/kdm.log?
is there anything in /home/[username]/.xsession_errors (that varies slightly depending on install) .. and what version of X are you running?

Nothing in var/log/kdm but in the ~/.xsession-errors I find:

Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0"

Anything?

I am running X verion 4.2.0.
