well i installed Slackware 8 and all is well, except one thing :(

its no big deal, but here we go:
I use kdm for to login X, and before the switch to kde 2.x i could set my kdm so it had a color gradient in the background with an overlaying picture of tux in the lower right corner of the screen (in your /usr/src/linux/documentation/logo.gif). With older versions of slack (or older linuxs) that used kde <= 1.1.2 you could do what i describe using the login manager in the k conrol panel. With kde 2.x tho, it only allows me to stretch, tile, or center the picture. It doesnt offer the option to put the picture in the corner...

its a big annoyance to me...is there a way to manually make it do that?
