Hi all,

I am currently running Mandrake 7.1 and am looking to upgrade to Red Hat 7.0 (I think?). I have the install cd's for Red Hat, but here's my problem.

I recently bought a CD burner. I have completed the physical installation of the burner, but that's all. All I want to do is have the burner be able to read the install discs so that I can get Red Hat up and running. I will worry about getting the cd-writing part once Red Hat is installed.

Does anyone know how I can do this? Any helpful comments or links would be much appreciated!

Thanks :D

If the drive is correctly connected and supported in Linux, you should be able to boot right from the first install CD.

Info is a little sketchy, but it sounds like you are having trouble booting from your CD-WR? If this is the case, then I would suggest looking through your Bios settings. Be sure that the drive is being detected correctly, and have it first in your boot order list. Hopefully your motherboard supports booting from CD. Let us know if this was actually your problem and if it worked or not.
