Help with Quake 3 !!!Please!!

Im new to linux and would like to know how to install the quake poin release 1.29f beta...I have mandrake 8 .,.. and if possible can you give detailed intructions

download the point release http://www.bluesnews.com/files/idstuff/quake3/linux/linuxq3apoint-1.29f-beta1.x86.shtml

cd to the directory you downloaded the file to, type: sh linuxq3apoint-1.29f-beta1.x86.run

you might have to be root, depending on where you installed quake 3.

Thx for the help.... but now i have another problem ... whenever i try to start quake it tries to load it and then the desktop resolution turn to 640*480 and nothing starts.... i have installed the Nvidia drivers for the GeForce ... PLEASE HELP!!!!

if you haven't done so already, you might want to check the Linux Games area - several people have had some trouble getting q3 to run properly.

If you're having any issues like:
"Sys_LoadDll(./quake3.x86/baseq3/uii386.so) failed"

Then start q3 from the command line with the following parameters:
./quake3 +set vm_game 2 +set vm_cgame 2 +set vm_ui 2
