I am going to Defcon next week with some friends and I thought it would be fun to try installing Linux on my laptop and make all my friends use it. :)

Their user accounts aren't created yet. I am using Gnome/Enlightenment and was wondering what I can do to make it so that whenever a new account is made it puts a few icons on the desktop of the new user so they can easily launch a few programs such as a DVD player, dialup, CD writing software, StarOffice, etc. Where does that go, exactly? Thanks.

You could just copy the gnome desktop directory into the /etc/skel/ directory if it isnt already there. I think that should work. If it doesnt I know im close ;-) so poke around from there
