I am trying to use one of the color schemes from http://www.kde-look.org (Emerald City). When I attempt to download it, I get a text file that appears to have the color values for the different widgets. Where do I need to place this file in order for the Mandrake 8.1 KDE control center to see it?

if you're using netscape, instead of just click it, shift+click so you download it. then place it where you want it to be, and run the kde control center
go to lookNfeel -> styles
select new style and click the kdestyle you've downloaded

I am trying to do the exact same thing, according to kdelook.org this is how schemes are to be installed # Open konqueror
# Browse to ~/.kde/share/apps/kdisplay/color-schemes
# Move your new .kcsrc file into the konqueror window
# Open the KDE-Menu an start the Control Center
# Click on "Look and Feel" and "Colors"
# Choose your new color scheme and press "Apply"
# Have fun! :-)
but when I try to copy my kcsrc files to the directory~/.kde/share/apps/kdisplay/color-schemes I get an error from KDE asking should I skip auto skip or cancel becuse I do'nt have permission to access the directory I then tried to using the su command from a terminal window & became root for that session. I then tried the copy process again I recived the same error as before.
I then restarted X & loged in as root using KDE 3.03-8 redhat but I was unable to find the ~/.kde/share/apps/kdisplay/color-schemes
What am I doing wrong? also is the su command only used if someone is going to do system config via the command line? becuse it does not work when I need root access to use the gui tools. I am currently running RH 8.0 & KDE 3.03, but I have had these same issues with MD 9.0
Thanks for the help:)
