Whats the best way to resize a partition? I am using slackware and have it set on 3 partitions and need to drastically downsize one and increase another. I looked at fdisk but am a bit scared to just jump at it without any guidence. Thanks!!!

There is a program that can resize ext2 but I've heard it's still buggy.
I think the program is ext2resize or something. Poke around freshmeat.net and you'll find it eventually.

fdisk won't resize your partitions on the fly , per se. It will let you delete and recreate those partitions, losing data in the meantime.
I believe that Partition Magic will do the trick. I know it's primarily a Windows app, but I think there's a linux version. Unless , of course, you have Windows on that machine too...then you can install PMagic there and resize your linux partition.

that's right about fdisk, and we're not talking about the DOS version, the Linux version. if you even try to use the DOS version, you might as well reformat the drive. the is a CLI program called fips that is supposed to do the job, but i've never used it so i cannot vouch for its effectiveness. maybe you can do a man search for fips or check out the linux document project for more info.
