Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Why does WM do this to my background?

Take a look at my screenshot here (http://www.geocities.com/ssforza/ugscreen.jpg):

This is a background I put together today... when loaded in Gimp or an image viewer the blue is solid.. but when WM displays it as a background it puts those "lines" in it...
Did I do a no-no of some sort that WM doesn't like? It doesn't seem to do this to any other images I've loaded as backgrounds.
Thanks! :D

Geocities is a piece of shiznit. In the new window it opens, go up the URL window and hit enter again, and the image will load, instead of GeoSchnitties saying it's not there.

What lines? Seriously, I don't see any.

Must be the new system I built corrects any imperfections in screen images. ;)

Heh must be... cuz there are verticle lines going thru it on my screen right now, and I loaded that screen shot in windows and they still show up there...

Tried again and now I see them. Very nice. How did you do it? ;)

From 2.5' away I couldn't make them out, but up close I can see them. About 1/8" apart.

Now that I can see them, I have no idea why you got them.

How large is the image in Gimp? Is it stretched when used as a background?

Well, I stole the image from Udamongolf's web page - www.udamongolf.com (http://www.udamongolf.com) - and then basically cut & filled onto a background that was full-screen size using Gimp.
The image is 1024x768, just like I believe my screen is.

???

Have you tried using a different color as the background to see if it still shows the same lines?

Sorry I don't know what to suggest.
