I'm thinking about changing from Gnome to Blackbox. This is my first Linux box though so I'm wondering whether I should stick with Gnome until I get the hang of it or if I should just go straight to Blackbox.
Thanks,

I'd say go straight to Blackbox if you are comfortable doing so. I never used Gnome and only used KDE for a very short time before going to iceWM. You'll have to get use to doing some things from the CLI, but that will make learn.
Ultimately, its your choice.

I'd also say go to Blackbox. You can still use all the Gnome's apps with BB.

I'd say go to Blackbox also. Even if your not very comfortable with it. Just because you will learn a lot more, a lot faster. With blackbox you have to configure it all.

before you go to bb, i'd take some time and make sure you know what apps are actually installed with gnome and kde. these you can add manually to your bb menu, but you won't know that some of them are there necessarily, mozilla is a good example, unless you use gnome or kde for a little while and decide what apps you like.
