Ansi Graphics and Linux

I am trying to do some ansi graphics for my mud. I have used thedraw program an old dos program for BBS's but when I load the mud it has colors (greens reds and blues) but no words they are just a bunch of char's. While an ansi menu is not important it would be nice to have one. Any ideas how to get ansi to work with linux????

Also I cant get the Linux version of the draw I think kdraw or something like that to compile. ????
