Should this command work to get the checksum of a burned CD?
md5sum /dev/cdrom1 >md5sum.txt
called from a writeable directory?
I'm trying to upgrade/restart my Linux journey. I've downloaded an ISO and the md5sum of the ISO on the HD checks out. I burned the CD with no reported errors. When I go to install, I restart the machine and the installation begins. The Ramdisk loads to memory with no on-screen errors. Then it just plain stops.
I get the message "In second stage installation" or something very similar typed in plain text at the bottom of the screen and nothing. I can type and the charecters appear on the screen. No commands work. Must reboot.
Haven't heard others having this problem, so fear it is a bad image of the CD. Any other thoughts? Am I not alone?
Thanks for any help,
Chris
ps. Anyone know of a Windows based md5sum program? :-)
