Hi y'all,
I got some boot problems with RH7.0
Since I installed my soundcard, my system locks up when loading the sound module.. :(
Can anybody tell me how to boot in 'safemode'
or something so that my sound module won't load
Unfortunatly i got no boot/rescue disk :(
Thx,
Iassen

First - When you see LILO: type "linux single" - you go into "safe mode"
Second - when computer boots press "I" (for interactive startup) and skip the sound module loading.
Hope that helps

yeah..that was the first thing i did, but it didn't helped...why ? don't ask me... :(
I typed: "linux single" but i didn't looked like it was starting in safe mode though..
next i pressed "I" for interactive blablabla
but that didn't worked either... strange huh?
It just kept booting everything without asking confirmation to load the module...
But anywayz...I think i got the answer:
Luckily I have the ISO-BOOT-CD (RH7.0) so i booted up and started the linux rescue boot.
Then i mounted the ext2 partition (mount -ext2 /dev/hda1 /mnt/tmp) and voila :) I edited my modules.conf and my precious laptop continued booting after a restart :)
*pfew* I'M SAVED !!!!!!
but thanks for the (must work though) solution that unfortunatly didn't work for me..

Hmm, that's strange?!
Maybe it starts runlevel 3 (or 5) while you are typing "linux single"?
Did you try to stop lilo (Tab key) and then type linux single, or you was typing it during the 3-seconds pause?
I am just curious, y'know......

No i pressed TAB..
I got that niffy GRAPHICAL BOOT MENU from RH ya know....so you have to press CTRL-X to get into text mode...the next thing you see is:
"boot:"
then you can type everything you want...no timelimit what-so-ever.
(no "lilo:" btw... Or is "boot:" the same ?)
