Maurice jim beam 07-26-2001, 03:01 AM no the ext2 filesystem doesnt need to be defragd Malakin 07-26-2001, 06:08 AM I've never used it but apparently there is a degrag program out there for ext2 called "defrag". My solution is to copy the partition contents to anther one and back. Obviously files will become fragmented under certain conditions. I for example download probably 1000 files every day and delete most of them, move some around, delete some more etc. This will end up with nasty fragmentation no matter what especially if you're running with the partition near full. M.Arthur 07-26-2001, 04:20 PM Thank you for Defrag information. Only asked ,as I had bought Nortons Utilites. and wondered if linux had use for defrag Maurice justlinux.com
