I really rather not use enlightenment. I would like to use something along the lines of blacbox and wm, but it seems neither of these can do it... or can they?
Thanks,

Thanks, Kuber fitter 09-10-2001, 03:31 PM It sort of depends upon what you're after. As far as I know, it's not the WM but the program that's the issue. My .xinitrc launches an Eterm with the following options: eterm --trans --cmod 0x090 -g 100x60+150+150 & If you do a man eterm, you'll note that the last section defines the geometry of the terminal and the location it appears on the desktop when launched. In this case, I'm opening a terminal that's 100 columns by 60 rows, which opens 150 pixels down and 150 pixels to the right from the top left corner of the desktop. I know that the WindowMaker prefs (WMPrefs.app) allows you to define the default location apps open on the desktop, but app location prefs override this option. (I can't think of which preference it is, off-hand. Am at work, not using Linux). I think it's one of the first three preference panels. In any case, WindowMaker's default launch location is, I believe, 64 pixels down and 64 to the right. kuber 09-10-2001, 04:21 PM Here is the situation: I am running a geforce2 mx w/ TwinView--half my display is on my tv at 800x600 and half is on my monitor at 1600x1200. I want to run mame.xgl on the tv. I run xmame.xgl -glres 800x600 rom.zip and it opens up at 800x600 res. I can move it over to the tv display and it looks great. I would like to just be able to click on it and have it move over there, as I will have the monitor and tv in seperate rooms. Any idea how to do this? It doesn't seem that wm supports having a preference for a single app to open in a certain location, just the preference for all apps to open there... Far out-features any other wm I've seen. And does well in terms of speed on my P3-450 as well. kuber 09-10-2001, 06:33 PM Last time I ran it was on a pII 200, but now I have a pIII 650... I'll check it out.
