I do not know what I did, but all of a sudden all of my fonts in KDE 2 are screwed up.
When I go to KDE control center ->> Look & Feel ->> Fonts, all fonts are set to Agate. But when I choose 'Use defaults', they are set to Helvetica (which seems to be the default font). But when I close and reopen Control Center they are set back to Agate. In the list of aviable fonts, there's no Helvetica or any other 'normal' font (like Times, Verdana or whatever KDE uses as 'normal' font)
As a result, I can't use konsole, because the text is unreadable. Konqueror is also almost unreadable and websites are screwed up as wel.

P.S: I would upload a screenshot, if I only could. But ncFTP is also unreadable. I'll try to get it online as soon as possible.

edit: Other options like sounds at startup are also reser everytime I start KDE.
When I start KDE as root, I do not have these problems, only when I log in as a normal user.

You can see the font is set to Helvitica (by use 'use default' button, but the font you see is certainly NOT helvitica

Do you have a version Windows on that PC? If you do, choose the option to Get Windows Fonts ( this is under -Configuration-Other-Drakfont on Mandrake ). That will migrate and install all your Win fonts onto your Linux side.

If you don't, then get a floppy or CDR with loads of fonts on it, run whatever config tool your distro has to install fonts ( maybe make sure there's a nice ttf helvetica on it... ) and that should sort you out.

Good luck.
