This has to do with windows but linux is involved with it

I am currently on a 6gig harddrive partitioned into 3- 2gig parts (C: D: E :)

I just hooked up a 30gig hard drive and configured it for dos, and formatted it. Now it is D: and the previous D: and E: have been moved to E: and F: (hope u got all that ) =] now the problem is all my shortcuts from the D: and e: drives is all wrong, is there a way to change the new 30gig (now drive d :) to f: and move the other partitions back to their normal letters?

any help is appritiated

I think Win2000 will let you reassign the drive letters. Doesn't help if you have Win9X though.

The other way to do it is to delete any primary partitions on the new drive and create an extended partition with logical drives.

Dos assigns all primary partitions first beginning with the first primary on the master drive and next the first primary on the next physical drive. Logical partitions are assigned last.

This will work fine unless you want to install Win9X on the 30GB drive. It has to be installed on a primary partition.

reformat your new hd and install Linux on it. Windows won't recognize the new drive, thus reestablishing the old drive letters. Yes, I know this is a smartass reply, but it is accurate.

Not pretty, but they got it done. Hey, Dilfer was due for a bad game.

Next Week, the Jets at Home. At least they get the fewest points allowed in a season record.
