Well I just upgraded my version of blackbox and boy am I sorry I did. The new version was very ugly and odd so I redownloaded the last stable in the 0.5X series and am using it. Is there any way I can get the 0.6X series to look line the 0.5X series?

Do you not like the "interlaced" look? It's been a while since I've seen the 0.5x series, but I don't remember it looking (or feeling) that much different. Explain what you don't like about it and maybe someone can point you in the direction to make it look more like 0.5x.

ugly and odd? hmmm... i don't agree.

it now has 2 places to resize the window, instead of one. it has a configuration menu now, it has autominimize (and many other) options for the slit, and taskbar, it's faster, and last, i belive it comes with better themes.

i havn't used bb 0.5.x in forever, so i guess i'm not really clear what else was different besides the 1 window resize handle, and 2.

but, if you want help with 0.6.x, let us know. it's a great window manager.

thanks for your replies. i upgraded one day last week since it was updated as the new stable and i didn't really give it a chance i guess. the 0.5.X series just popped up looking perfect for me (i never even changed the default theme) i probably need to spend some time with the config files to get things like i want but i just didn't have time that day. so maybe i made a quick decision. i will go back to it when i have some free time. i absolutely love blackbox and i would like to keep using it. i'll let you guys know if i have any specific difficulties. thanks again.

yeah, i'd totally sit down with a couple of hours, delete your current .blackboxrc, and .blackbox directory, and start blackbox again. keep your menu around somewhere though.

this will add the styles menu, and config menu. i didn't know it existed untill someone told me to use it on the BB mailing list. i added it myself after looking in the default menu. but, starting with the base menu i think is a good idea. you'll see whats there.

oh, if you ever want some help theming... jeff raven explained a little about memory management, blackbox's handling of the bitmaps it creates, and stuff, and i've made BB themes for the 0.6 series, from CVS stuff earlier, to the new stable. so, hey, i can help http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif
