I'm having a problem installing helix gnome from a set of packages I've downloaded. I grabbed all the packages and the packages.xml and the installer program.

The installer starts and I point it to my downloaded files.

It finds ~22 of the packages and appears to install them.

It then restarts the X connection and I'm back with my old gdm and old gnome. WTF!

I've tried to install it a few times and have had the same experience with different downloads and different RH 6.2 machines. The only one that actually installed correctly was on my home PC with RH 6.2 connected directly to the net. The other machines have no internet connection so direct connections are not an option.

What am I missing?

Have you tried just running the script using lynx (lynx -source http://go-gnome.com/ | sh)? That is what I did and it worked with out a hitch...it couldn't be easier. Just make sure you have x running when you do it because the installer is GUI.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear.

I have successfully installed helix gnome on my home PC which has a net connection using the
lynx -source http://go-gnome.com |sh

But the PCs at work do not have a connection to the internet. I have to bring the packages in on a zip disk and install from them. This is the part I have been unsuccessful with.
