I was able to get my modem fired up in minicom from CLI, but nowhere in the FVWM can I find a 'connect' sort of button - I tried opening an xterm and cnnecting from minicom, then opening netscape, but the 'no DNS entry' message comes up.

I am positive I have /etc/resolv.conf set up correctly, too! I used pppscript to generate the dialup script, so that's okay - just want to surf http://www.linuxplanet.com/discussion/frown.gif!

I don't use slackware, but here's a general ISP connect HOW-TO. You can verify your settings against this:

Thanks Eccentric!
I'll be taking my box to the local Linux God tonight, he's been looking for a pal like me, and I've been looking for a mentor! We're gonna recompile the kernel (2.2.7), set compiler flages individually, fine tune and beef up the whole box - while drinking Guinness!
