I don't know and probably will never have any time to figure out how to secure my linux system. There's just too much other stuff I can do with the system that's taking up all my time. Maybe I can do something to harness the Cheese Worm to my computer. :D

Attitudes like that are what make linux worms (good and bad) effective.

Someday you might find that its not your system anymore and then there will be even more stuff to do, like reinstall. I hope you make back ups...

You could probably make your system relatively secure in about half an hour by commenting out uneeded services in /etc/inetd.conf and downloading a firewall script from freshmeat. Once you're done with that, then you can just surf over to crypto.yashy.com/nmap.php (http://crypto.yashy.com/nmap.php) and you'll have a pretty good idea of what your machine looks like from the outside. You know what they say about an ounce of prevention...

Use Red Hat's up2date tool. Damn easy. Type up2date -u and you've upgraded to the latest versions of all your software.
