mount doesn't work anyway

Hi!
I have RH 7.1 Firstly, i've installed KDE 2.2, after it - samba from RH Installation disk. And now i can't mount cdrom and win partition. mount error message is about: vfat (or iso9660) fs type is unknown ...
More, modprobe ppp0 fails, and now i can't surf in Inet from my computer :)
What's up, how to repaire, please?

Did you do anything else besides KDE and Samba?

Does 'lsmod' list vfat or iso9660? If not, then try

modprobe vfat
modprobe isofs

Did you get any errors from modprobe ppp0?

modprobe -v ppp0

will give you more info.
