I am having several problems that are getting the best of me. Help on any of them would be greatly appreciated.

1) In netscrape it used to open to the redhat page and then I could click on home and it would take me to the home page I requested in preferences. I changed it from the netscape home page to metacrawler.com and now when I open it it gives me a screen with info on Netscape Communicator 4.75 and when I click on anything or try and scrool down or go to my home page the page goes blank and then I can click on home and get there. What have I done? This is not important but highly annoying.

2) When I try to run a program in wine I get an error that the cd is not in drive D: and asks that I specify a drive. What am I supposed to say? I can get the basics to work like notpad and the caculator so it is configured ok.

3)How do I tell what plugin netscrape is using to play mp3's? I want it to use xmms but it isn't and currently I have to click on download to get them to play (and the do NOT download but they do play??? ).

4) More of a suggestion.... I am going to purchase a laptop and was wondering what brand and hardware is recommended? I am using RedHat 6.1 on my desktop so I will probably use something else on the laptop, most likely slack. It will be used only for Linux no duel booting.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

1) Probably need to reinstall netscape from the rpms. It has happened to me before I have not figured out to get to change back without reinstalling.

2)Try mounting the cd first.

3)In the preferences for netscape there is a section for programs. edit mp3s so that they use xmms.

4)If you have the money, tuxtops would be a good choice. IBM has some models that ship with Caldera. If you get something more generic, check the chipsets if they wil work in Linux. Also check the Linux Laptop page, most common models are listed there.

Thanks for the quick response.

I will reinstall netscape when I get home.

I am not sure of the path to the application for xmms. Can you tell me that? You do mean in preferences/applications right?
