No, everything worked for me right out of the box. The only time I had trouble was installing new packages....

Nice technical support from Red Hat, huh ?

I've only had 1 problem. Couldn't run java, javac under jdk1.2.2. Someone on this forum (HAL) pointed me to the RH patches area. linuxconf has worked fine for me. Good Luck...

Only problem I had was the buggy version of Glibc but there was a patch at RHs homepage.

I had the problem with linuxconf, I can run it from the command line though but not from Gnome. Any problems with Kde? Kde freaks out on me when I try to log in, screen flashes and weirds out if I try to open something.

Thanks for the replies guys but i really can't get it to work i have tried installing the latest version and have installed all of the updates from the RH site but to no avail if i try to run linuxconf from the start menu it says cannot execute program linuxconf and if i try from the command line it says command not found i think i feel a re- install coming on.

I had Redhat 7 installed for a bit... the only way linuxconf would work for me was logging in to X as root. Would not work by using su.

I had the same problem. I had to log in as root to use a lot of the tools. That's what turned me away from version 7.

Did tech support seriously say "don't use them then" or are you exaggerating? What did they really say? Just intersted. If they really just said 'don't use it then' that's pretty sad.
