Hi, I'm trying to install mandrake 8.0
the computer boots up into the graphicial instalation...partitions the drive, and then takes me to the specified options screen, I select my chosen ones (office and Kde), i click on continue, and the progress indicator moves forward, a little.
I then get an error message saying
invalid file "".

it then goes back to the option screen, is this a fault with the Cd, or my method of instalation ?
Thanks
Dave

Probably a bogus CD ... did you burn your own from a downloaded *.iso file?
If so, did you check the md5sum for the *.iso?

Cheers :-)

thanks for the advice, it's odd though as the CD'S are genuine Mandrake products.

Hmm...strange.
I don't know what to suggest except perhaps trying a "Custom" installation. It takes a lot more work, but it gives you almost full control of the install process.

I'm shocked you are using Mandrake CDs and having problems. I had Free CDs and had problems, I got the Mandrake, works like a dream now. Where did you get your CDs? Did you get them for like 2bucks from linuxcentral or something? The Mandrake is about 30 bucks for the Standard. There is a difference.
