I have just changed my old pc case for a newer one, I swapped the M/board and drives out of the old case and installed them in the new one.

When i rebooted there was only an option to use Linux, where previously i had Linux - Windows - DOS.

I checked the Lilo.conf and re-ran /sbin/lilo to try and reinstall my Lilo,
and got the following message.

WARNING: BIOS drive 0x82 may not be accessible.
added linux.
WARNING: BIOS drive 0x82 may not be accessible.
added failsafe.
and the same for the win and win2 entries in lilo.conf.

But when i restarted all i got was a screen full of scrolling 101010101010101's.

All i did was change the M/Board and drives from one case to another case.

At the present i cannot use either Lilo or grub. (I'm using Loadlin - and it works fine)
Any ideas on what went wrong??.

That is the Problem i get when i remove linux or change partitions without "letting" Lilo know... If lilo doesn't see one of your partitions properly (normally linux) then it will display something along these lines..

LI01010101010101010101010101010101.... etc..

you will have to check and make sure that you put the drives in exactly the way they were setup before.. http://www.linuxnewbie.org/ubb/smile.gif

Did you put the drives in the same order and place as before? In other words is /dev/hda still /dev/hda and not /dev/hdb or /dev/hdc? You may have them on the wrong ide channel. Secondary instead of Primary or visa versa.

Also check the BIOS settings for hard drives (like LBA, 32-bit, etc...)

Thanks for the help, i took the cover of the case and found i had put one of the drives on a different ide.

A bit late seeing as i have already re-partitioned, Oh well, I'll put it down to my stupidity.
