OK guys here's my situation -
I have an old crusty 486 laptop with Debian loaded that I'm trying to get on the network.
It appears to find the card, as I get the dual-beeps and the indicator light powers up, but I can't actually establish a link (I'm plugged straight into a hub and I can see that it's not showing a link).
Is there something else I have to do to enable the NIC?
And how do I configure it for DHCP once I get it enabled?

If your card is properly installed I know that in RH linuxconf has under the network section a button to select manual/dhcp/boot Just select DHCP and remove any IP domain or DNS server IPs u see( normally the DHCP server auto assigns them)
good luck NB

Well it's got a very base load on it, so no linuxconf...
But maybe I should see if I can find a version of linuxconf to run on it that doesn't require 3000 dependancy downloads along with it to see if it makes life easier or not :)
