Hi again,
As part of my continuing Debian experiment I have realized that my faithful soundcard has a bit of an issue that needs addressing.

After doing an apt-get upgrade the machine no longer seems to use the modules.conf file to load modules (I could be wrong here . . . but anyway). Every time I wish to play some tunes I need to type (as root) "modprobe es1371" to get the Ensonique card to work. Once this is done, no problem.
I have tried including es1371 in the /etc/modules files but when I do this Xmms freezes up and does nothing. I have also not found any files in the /etc/modutils directory that look like they could be edited to solve the problem.
Any suggestions on this matter would be welcome.
