Need help - I hate the silence

I have posted before with this question, but have not been able to resolve it.

I am using Libranet 1.9.1 and everything works except my soundcard. It is a CMI8338 PCI card,

I have compiled it in the kerenel, but when i run the ALSA to configure the card (it has an entry for cards based on the CMI8330_chips, it does not pick it up.

This is all i need to get my Debian based distro running properley, If i can do that, then i will be able to get rid of mandrake. :D
