I'm running Slackware7 + HelixGnome right now. Heres the problem: whenever I try to compile a program that uses GNOME in any way I get the following error during the ./configure state:

checking for gnome-config... no
checking for gnomeConf.sh file in /usr/local/lib... not found
configure: error: Could not find the gnomeConf.sh file that is generated by gnome-libs install

I downloaded and re-installed the gnome-libs rpm file (and tried again using rpm2tgz) but neither seemed to create a gnomeConf.sh file or the gnome-config needed. What's going on here??

/usr/bin/gnome-config is in the libgnome-dev package on my Debian system, so I imagine you'll need the 'gnome-libs-dev' RPM or something like that.
