I am running Gnome and am getting annoyed by windows refreshing (at least I think they're refreshing). When I have multiple windows open and I click on one of them through the taskbar, it pauses for about 1 second, and then the window is brought to the top. Shouldn't it be automatic. I am running win98 on the same machine and its fine. What the heck is going on?

there should be a way in the gnome control pannel to set the window popup time, check there.

Gnome with Enlightenment is not exactly the quickest combination in the entire world. Enlightnement takes alot of processing power and memory to display its eyecandy. That might be another reason for the delay.

I think it was Enlightenment. I'm using Sawmill now and the windows come up in a snap. But, is Sawmill or any other window manager as versatile as Enlightenment w/o being slow like it.

Also, is KDE faster than Gnome? What do you guys prefer?
