im sick of md8, and its ability to not compile jack ****.
i want a debian package, but one that has a graphical install(x server didnt start with pure potato install). so which one is better. and storm is out of the question since the company is bankrupt.

I tried progeny but I really think debian is easier. Don't worry about the graphical install, it's really worthless. I think my main complaint about progeny is I have yet to get it to work with a single network card and it uses grub instead of lilo, so I just gave up. Just go debian. Just post back here if you have questions.

Progeny worked flawlessly with my NETGEAR FA310TX whereas debian didn't work, the exact opposite of godot hehe.
I've never used libranet, but I don't think you'd be disatisfied with progeny in any way, same tools, a couple for updated packages, you can always edit your apt-get sources later anyways.

I haven't had any troubles with Mandrake.
as a matter of fact, I tried to install debian and redhat, and mandrake, and mandrake was the only one I could get to work (and it worked on the first try, mind you :)

Yeah but that (Redhat Mandrake, especially Mandrake) is for those who will take the easy way out. For the weak :P Dood, Debian or Slackware is the way to go. I lean more toward Debian though.

Oh and... anything Debian based is good :P especially Debian.
But if you really need to choose go with Progeny.

the only problem with debian and other custom distros is that they are easier to build if you have a dedicated internet connection, unlike me
